Implant Dentistry
Implant dentistry
involves placing titanium implants into the jawbone. It can be used for single, multiple, or whole mouth tooth replacement in addition to denture stabilization. Dental implants come in larger sizes and there are many types available. An examination would be needed to find out which dental implant would be good for you.
Single
Implants are posts that are surgically placed in your upper or lower jaw, where they function as a sturdy anchor for replacement teeth. They are made of titanium (a strong, lightweight material) and other materials that are accepted by your body. Dental implants are used to replace single teeth or multiple teeth.
Implant Bridges
Dental implants may be used to support a fixed bridge. Implants are surgically placed into the bone and once healed a fixed bridge can be made over them. This can be done if a patient is missing multiple consecutive teeth in an area.
Overdentures
Overdentures are dentures that are attached to dental implants. This is to help make dentures more stable and comfortable. Often patients have trouble wearing lower dentures due to them “floating” on gum tissue, this option gives denture more stability to not move making it more comfortable for patient.
Mini Dental Implants
Mini dental implants are smaller then regular dental implants. Mini implants are typically used to hold a removable denture. When mini dental implants are used to support a lower denture, your dentist will place three or more in lower jaw, your denture is then adjusted and attached to the posts.
